We are looking for a Superintendent for our Bakersfield, CA Team!
Job Summary
The Superintendent is responsible for managing foremen and crews in completing multiple projects safely and per contract specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Below is a compilation of primary duties and responsibilities for this role, supplemented by certain supportive tasks. - Provides for timely, quality and safe completion of all jobs assigned by directly supervising foremen.
- Provide direction, advice, project setup/layout to job foremen for multiple projects within the Division.
- Responsible for timely movement of equipment on and off projects.
- Provide assistance to foremen in solving problems and jobsite issues related to completion of work.
- Contributes to maximum efficiency with labor and equipment utilization on multiple projects within the Division.
- Contribute to timely scheduling of crews to provide for timely responses to customers, keep an even flow of work and prevent downtime.
- Ability to schedule resources and review jobs as needed.
- Ensure compliance with WVCC’s safety program by holding employees and subcontractors accountable for complying with all safety requirements.
- Enforce Company employment policies/procedures.
- Assist management with cost projections, bid reviews, and estimates.
- Collaborate with management to ensure all reporting is completed by end of day.
- Complete as-builts per project specifications.
Qualifications
- Education/Experience: Minimum of a high school education or equivalent preferred. Minimum of 15 years leading a construction crew, with a minimum of 5 years in underground utility construction.
- Certificates/Licenses: Valid CA driver’s license in good standings (must be 18 years of age or older to operate a company vehicle).
- Computer Skills: Computer knowledge in Microsoft Office programs.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interface with a variety of people including clients, employees, managers, agencies, and the general public.
- Leadership: Ability to mentor and coach others.
- Mathematical Skills: Calculate footages and material quantities.
- Organization and Planning: Detail oriented and must be able to multi-task.
- Problems Solving: Ability to use a systematic approach to solve problems and evaluate alternative solutions.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
- Hearing adequate to perform job duties in person.
- Able to communicate clearly in person and over the telephone.
- Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties and respond to dangerous situations.
- Frequent bending, reaching, standing, walking, squatting, sitting, pushing, and pulling.
- Manual dexterity to operate a keyboard and other electronic devices. Repetitive motions that include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Able to safely ascend or descend step ladders, stairs, ramps, etc.
- Adjust or move objects up to 20 pounds in all directions without assistance.
- May work in areas where hazardous substances are present.
- Must be willing and able to operate a company vehicle.
- Able to safely ascend and descend ladders, stairs, ramps, and scaffolds.
- Able to work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
- Able to position one-self in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, and tunnels.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
- Able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) throughout the shift.
- Able to work in the sun, heat, wet, dry, dirty, and dusty conditions.
Salary
- $108,200/year – 162,400/year
