We are looking for a Foreman for our Bakersfield, CA and Chico, CA Teams!

Job Summary

The Foreman is responsible for safely executing jobsite construction tasks through directing and monitoring field personnel and demonstrating the effective communication with project managers, superintendents, clients, and other governing agencies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Below is a compilation of primary duties and responsibilities for this role, supplemented by certain supportive tasks.   • Plan, coordinate, and manage crew members safely and productively on various construction related tasks such as layout, potholing, excavation, protective systems, utility installation, backfill, compaction, restoration, and traffic control.
  • Effectively communicate schedule, progress, and needs daily with managers or superintendents.
  • Identify and utilize the correct piece of equipment or tool for the task.

  • Aspire to lead and mentor crew members on safe work practices through understanding and support of the Company’s safety program, policies and procedures, personal protective equipment requirements, and training guidelines.
  • Proactive in identifying hazardous or potentially hazardous jobsite conditions and able to direct and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct daily Tailgate Safety Meetings on site with an emphasis on identifying tasks, associated hazards, and precautions needed.
  • Track crew time, equipment usage, materials, subcontractors, and other jobsite data in an electronic log.
  • Document and report all incidents and accidents per Company policy and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Education/Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. 5+ years of heavy/civil construction experience (underground utility experience preferred).
  • Certificates/Licenses: Valid CA driver’s license in good standings (must be 18 years of age or older to operate a company vehicle).
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to maintain positive working relationships with employees and members of management..
  • Leadership: Possess leadership skills required to effectively coordinate, lead, and manage crews.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform and complete basic construction calculations, take measurements, etc.
  • Organization and Planning: Ability to look ahead and keep the jobsite clean, organized and safe.
  • Problems Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Adaptable and able to problem solve through analysis.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to speak and comprehend English.
  • Hearing adequate to perform job duties in person.
  • Able to communicate clearly in person and over the telephone.
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties and respond to dangerous situations.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, standing, walking, squatting, sitting, pushing, and pulling.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a keyboard and other electronic devices. Repetitive motions that include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Able to safely ascend or descend step ladders, stairs, ramps, etc.
  • Adjust or move objects up to 20 pounds in all directions without assistance.
  • May work in areas where hazardous substances are present.
  • Must be willing and able to operate a company vehicle.
  • Able to safely ascend and descend ladders, stairs, ramps, and scaffolds.
  • Able to work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
  • Able to position one-self in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, and tunnels.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
  • Able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) throughout the shift.
  • Able to work in the sun, heat, wet, dry, dirty, and dusty conditions.

Salary

  • Bakersfield: $45.00/hour – $55.00/hour
  • Chico: $40.00/hour – $62.62/hour
