We are looking for a Operator for both our Campbell, CA and Redwood City, CA Teams!

Job Summary

To safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment in both the public and private right-of-way.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Below is a compilation of primary job duties and responsibilities for this role, supplemented by certain supportive tasks.   • Safely and efficiently operate equipment of various sizes and weights such as excavators, backhoes, loaders, skid steers, rollers, forklifts, and cranes by starting engines, moving throttles, switches, levers, and depressing pedals.
  • Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as overhead and underground utility lines, other equipment, other workers, or falling objects.
  • Coordinate machine actions with other activities, such as positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members.
  • Assist crew in excavating trenches and pits, loading and placing backfill material, spreading and compacting material, hoisting and lowering materials and tools.
  • Ability to understand and operate within the working range and force specifications of various types of equipment.
  • Perform routine inspection of equipment and attachments and report any defects, damage, or repairs needed to supervisor.
  • Ensure equipment has proper fuel and fluid levels for planned operation.
  • Ensure equipment and attachments are clean and prepared/stowed prior to transport.
  • Comply with company policies and union regulations for a safe and productive work environment.

Qualifications

  • Education/Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Certificates/Licenses: Valid driver’s license in good standings (must be 18 years of age or older to operate a company vehicle).
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to maintain positive working relationships with employees and members of management.
  • Leadership: Actively working to grow and develop leadership skills.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform and complete basic construction calculations, take measurements, etc.
  • Organization and Planning: Ability to look ahead and keep the jobsite clean, organized, and safe.
  • Problem Solving: Adaptable and able to problem solve through analysis.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
  • Hearing adequate to perform job duties in person.
  • Able to communicate clearly in person and over the telephone.
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties and respond to dangerous situations.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, standing, walking, squatting, sitting, pushing, and pulling.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a keyboard and other electronic devices. Repetitive motions that include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • May work in areas where hazardous substances are present.
  • Must be willing and able to operate a company vehicle.
  • Able to safely ascend and descend ladders, stairs, ramps, and scaffolds.
  • Able to work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
  • Able to position one-self in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, and tunnels.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 70 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
  • Able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) throughout the shift.
  • Able to work in the sun, heat, wet, dry, dirty, and dusty conditions.

Salary

  • $53.25/hour – $61.14/hour
