We are looking for a Payroll Manager to join our Campbell, CA team!
Job Summary
The Payroll Manager will play an integral role in managing the day-to-day payroll operations, direct and lead the daily workflow of the payroll team, and ensure timely payroll processing.
Essential Duties Responsibilities

- Ensure continuous compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including preparing and filing weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll records.
- Ensure accurate calculation of union and non-union wages, tax withholdings, and company deductions as part of overall compliance with statutory reporting requirements.
- Manage a small team of payroll administrators and provide hands-on training and mentorship for the ongoing development of the department.
- Demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills when issues arise, thereby ensuring a high level of customer service.
- Prepare, reconcile, and file quarterly and year-end payroll tax returns.
- Support and liaise with external auditors and examiners as necessary.
- Maintain the integrity and accuracy of employee data within the accounting system.
- Keep up to date on all new state and federal legislation that impacts payroll to ensure company compliance.
Qualifications
- Education/Experience: 5+ years of hands-on payroll processing for exempt, non-exempt, and union employees, with comprehensive knowledge of the field’s concepts and principles. Certified Payroll experience is strongly preferred in this role, with at least 2+ years of hands-on Certified Payroll and prevailing wage experience. Strong understanding of payroll’s impacts on the general ledger, including the ability to reconcile associated general ledger accounts. Knowledge of all applicable local, state, and federal rules and laws regarding proper pay practices for the company. Prior experience with understanding and complying with Collective Bargaining Agreements as part of the union payroll process is strongly encouraged. Experience with job cost/project timesheets is a plus.
- Computer Skills: proficient/expert level knowledge in Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel, including pivot tables and formulas such as VLOOKUP and IF(S).
- Interpersonal Skills: excellent communication skills while maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive and confidential information.
- Leadership: 5-10 years of direct payroll team supervision required. Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Organization and Planning: multi-tasker, organized team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Proven reliability, exemplary attendance, and work ethic.
- Problem Solving: strong analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
- Hearing adequate to perform job duties in person.
- Able to communicate clearly in person and over the telephone.
- Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties and respond to dangerous situations.
- Frequent bending, reaching, standing, walking, squatting, sitting, pushing, and pulling.
- Manual dexterity to operate a keyboard and other electronic devices. Repetitive motions that include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Able to safely ascend or descend step ladders, stairs, ramps, etc.
- Adjust or move objects up to 20 pounds in all directions without assistance.
- May work in areas where hazardous substances are present.
Salary
- $109,000/year – $163,600/year
