We are looking for a Safety Coordinator to join our Redwood City, CA Team!
Job Summary
The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for implementing policies or programs designed to promote employee health and safety compliance. This role involves conducting safety audits, training employees, investigating incidents, and ensuring compliance with state, federal, and local health and safety regulations.
Essential Duties Responsibilities

- Organize and conduct training to staff on health and safety risks found in the organization and appropriate risk control measures.
- Ensure that training records, incident/accident reports, or other documentation are appropriately maintained.
- Participate in-pre job planning and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) processes to identify potential hazards and implement appropriate mitigation plans.
- Ensure adequate levels of personal protection equipment (PPE), including task specific, or other related supplies (e.g. – hydration) are maintained and available to all employees.
- Conduct routine inspections of facilities, vehicles/equipment, or jobsites.
- Document and report findings and work with site management to address and/or rectify any issues.
- Lead incident and injury investigations, documenting root cause and corrective action for each to prevent reoccurrence.
- Oversee end-to-end injury management processes, including appointment reminders, modified work assignments, and OSHA recordability.
- Administer DOT regulated drug testing program, as directed by the company Drug & Alcohol Program Manager/Designated Employer Representative (DAPM/DER).
Qualifications
- Education/Experience: 4-year degree preferred in Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental Science, or related field. Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a safety role within the construction industry. Basic knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
- Certifications/Licenses: valid driver’s license in good standings (must be 18 years of age or older to operate a company vehicle).
- Computer Skills: strong computer skills including working knowledge or Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and train others to use computer technology.
- Interpersonal Skills: must have the ability to interface with a wide variety of people including clients, employees, managers, agencies, and the public. Ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with Operations Managers. Ability to teach and train as needed.
- Leadership: ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Mathematical Skills: able to perform construction mathematics calculations.
- Organization and Planning: must be able to manage individual priorities and plan work activities for themselves and others. Develop realistic action plans while being sensitive to time constraints and resources.
- Problem Solving: use a systematic approach to solve problems through analysis and evaluate alternate solutions. Use logic, mathematics, or other problem-solving tools in data analysis when generating solutions.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
- Hearing adequate to perform job duties in person.
- Able to communicate clearly in person and over the telephone.
- Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties and respond to dangerous situations.
- Frequent bending, reaching, standing, walking, squatting, sitting, pushing, and pulling.
- Manual dexterity to operate a keyboard and other electronic devices. Repetitive motions that include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Able to safely ascend or descend step ladders, stairs, ramps, etc.
- Adjust or move objects up to 20 pounds in all directions without assistance.
- May work in areas where hazardous substances are present.
- Bilingual Spanish preferred.
Salary
- $34.27/hr – $47.98/hr
