We are looking for a Sr. Project Manager to join our Stockton, CA team!

Job Summary

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the effective and profitable management functions of multiple large and complex construction projects or clients.

Essential Duties Responsibilities

Below is a compilation of primary job duties and responsibilities for this role, supplemented by certain supportive tasks.   • Ensure that all projects are completed in a timely, safe manner and within budget by managing project teams, including assigning projects to team members, maintain project status spreadsheet for all active projects, ensure that all project requirements are met, track project back log; maintain yard schedules for all crews; and ensure timely close out of projects.
  • Contribute to business growth by providing input or taking lead on bid opportunities and estimates; staying engaged with industry and customer needs.
  • Ensure WVCC’s procedures and contract requirements are met for timely billing and job close out including oversight/analysis of billings/costs, and provide Division or Area Manager with profit status of jobs.
  • Ensure change order validity by reviewing all change orders for accuracy and ensuring change orders/timesheets are identified and processed. Communicate with project team regularly regarding additional project costs.
  • Ensure that all subcontract, vendor, and owner-operator agreements meet WVCC requirements. Work with Division Manager and contract administration as needed.
  • Provide timely, accurate month-end estimates for Division Manager’s review by coordinating with the project team for details on each project.
  • Ensure that labor/operator needs are fulfilled by hiring qualified, competent personnel following the Company’s new hire/orientation process.
  • Promote long-term customer commitments by maintaining professional relationships, responding to information requests timely, resolving problems, keeping customers advised.
  • Ensure timely, open communication by meeting regularly with the Division or Area Manager.
  • Ensure effective implementation of WVCC’s safety program by holding all managers, foremen, subcontractors and others accountable for complying with safety requirements.
  • Provide for compliance with all WVCC personnel policies and procedures. Work directly with the Division Manager on employee issues including leaves of absence, discipline, employee handbook implementation and standards of conduct enforcement.
  • Participate in Company, customer/client meetings.
  • Support other managers at West Valley Construction Company through collaboration of labor and equipment resources.
  • Providing oversight on all projects assigned by visiting job sites on a regular basis, and working closely with the Superintendent and Foreman to be up-to-date with all job site activities.

Qualifications

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor’s of Science degree in Construction Management or similar degree preferred. 5-10 years of construction management experience; underground utility construction experience preferred.
  • Certificates/Licenses: Valid driver’s license in good standings (must be 18 years of age or older to operate a company vehicle).
  • Computer Skills: Computer knowledge in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interface with a variety of people including clients, employees, managers, agencies, and the general public.
  • Leadership: Ability to mentor and coach others.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate footages and material quantities. Estimating skills.
  • Organization and Planning: Ability to read and interpret specifications and improvement plans. Ability to manage individual priorities, work activities, and manage multiple projects at any given time.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to use a systematic approach to solve problems and evaluate alternative solutions.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
  • Hearing adequate to perform job duties in person.
  • Able to communicate clearly in person and over the telephone.
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties and respond to dangerous situations.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, standing, walking, squatting, sitting, pushing, and pulling.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a keyboard and other electronic devices. Repetitive motions that include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Able to safely ascend or descend step ladders, stairs, ramps, etc.
  • Adjust or move objects up to 20 pounds in all directions without assistance.
  • May work in areas and where hazardous substances are present.
  • Must be willing and able to operate a company vehicle.
  • Able to safely ascend and descend ladders, stairs, ramps, and scaffolds.
  • Able to work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
  • Able to position one-self in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, and tunnels.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
  • Able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) throughout the shift.
  • Able to work in the sun, heat, wet, dry, dirty, and dusty conditions.

Salary

  • $136,800/year – $205,200/year
